FAMILY NEWSBUSY: This past week has been wildly busy. On Monday we had 38 vehicles and 104 people served food. We used almost everything we had available, and we had a team that worked well together. On Thursday we had an unloading of the Feeding America truck at A.C.T.I.O.N. which involved several of us. All of this was on top of our usual classes and our food preparation on Sunday night. Our thanks to everyone who helped. GERRY BUNDLE will be preaching for us next Sunday, May 18, so you will have a different voice and a different type of lesson. REMEMBER: Singing at Brentwood in Niles on June 8 with Pauline and Harold Mathis arranging for us to be there. Also on June 22 we will be hosting an areawide singing for all congregations in the Michiana area. Both of these efforts will be at 3:00, but we will be setting up at 2:30. We are going to need everyone on hand. TODAY'S LESSON

We honor the memory of mothers and living mothers.
THE BACK PAGEMOTHERHOOD AND ABORTIONClaiming that a unborn child is just an extension of the mother's body is a lie. Babies have their own DNA, and when a woman becomes pregnant their body realizes that the baby has its own DNA and rejects the fetus as a foreign object. Make no mistake — abortion is murder. In today's lesson we have focused on God’s plan for motherhood. It is important to understand that being a mother is a special role that a woman should take on by choice. There is nothing more important for a woman who chooses to become a mother than raising a child. I sometimes hear a woman say “I'm just a mother” as if that role is less important than raising a baby to be a productive adult. In our day, raising a child has been relegated to an institution — day care, the public school, etc. There are circumstances in life when for financial reasons a woman not only has to raise a child, but must also provide a physical place for that child to grow. I have known women who suddenly found themselves without a husband and that made it necessary for them to find employment so their child could eat and have a place to live. In America today there are many ways of overcoming this challenge. Some women work from home. Some women work at night so they can be at home with their child during the day. Our society has rejected God and the Bible as a guide for life. Selfishness and materialism have pushed us as a people to sanction killing a child as acceptable so that a woman can have a bigger house, fancy car, nice clothes, and/or an expensive vacation. As a public school teacher for forty-one years I saw the result of kids who had a woman who gave them birth and then abandoned them. Not only did these kids have emotional problems, but they were in constant trouble with the school and in many cases with the law. God's plan works, and when humans refuse it the results are catastrophic. Scripture links/references are from BibleGateway.com.
